President Rao visit Australia

April 10 to April 15, president Rao led a delegation to visit
Australia. They went to the Australian National University, the
University of Melbourne, Monash University, and other famous
universities.
During the visit, president Rao introduced the situation of Nankai
University to the foreign schools, particularly on the development

Executive vice president chen visit colleges in the United States

University of Oxford on October 22.
On the afternoon of 22, Oxford University Vice-Chancellor John A.
Hood and President Rao talked about strengthening cooperation and

freshmen in the stadium.
This year, Nankai University recruited students nationally,
including Hong Kong, Macao and 34 provincial-level administrative
region, as well as the United States, Japan, Russia and other nine
countries. There are 3,097 undergraduates and 3,470 graduate
students.

FPSAC 2007 was held in Nankai University

FPSAC 2007, the 19th International Conference on Formal Power Series
& Algebraic Conbinatorics, was held from July 2 to 6 at the
Shiing-shen Building of Nankai University. It's the first time FPSAC
was held in Asia since 1998, the year when this influential
conference was founded.
Bill Chen, vice president of NKU and director of Center for
Combinatorics, chaired this conference's organizing committee.
Several well-known mathematicians gave lectures as invited speakers,
including Bruce C. Berndt (University of Illinois, USA), Philippe
Biane (Ecole Normale Sup└rieure, France), Anders Buch (Rutgers
University, USA) , Maxime Crochemore (University of Marne-la-Vall└e,
France ) , Eva-Maria Feichtner (University of Stuttgart, Germany) ,
Sergey Fomin (The University of Michigan, USA/Russia) , Ezra Miller
(The University of Minnesota, USA) , Soichi Okada (Nagoya
University, Japan) , and Peter Paule (Research Institute for
Symbolic Computation, Austria) .

Prof. He Binglin died on July 4
Prof. He Binglin, the well-known chemist, the educationist and the
academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, died of illness at
4:55 on July 4, 2007 in Tianjin at the age of 89.
