Admissions
Several ways you can get admissions from Nankai University.
International students are encouraged to apply when meet the entry
requirements and submit their application before deadline. Language
students and Visiting Scholars will be selected according to their
educational background and Chinese language level. Students applying
for master's or doctorate program need to pass two subject tests in
addition to HSK requirement. Applicants who apply to Nankai for the
second time will be considered with priority. The ways you can get
admissions to Nankai University are shown below.
(1) EXCHANGE STUDENTS BETWEEN GOVERNMENTS
According to the agreements between Chinese government and other
foreign governments, Nankai University accepts Government
Scholarship Student every year. Students have to apply for
scholarship from their government. Applications will be evaluated
from January 1 to April 30 each year.
(2) EXCHANGE STUDENTS BETWEEN UNIVERSITIES
According to the agreements between Nankai University and other
universities, Nankai University accepts around 30 exchange students
from the oversea sister schools.
(3) RECOMMENDED BY ORGANIZATIONS
Schools, universities and other international educational
organizations may recommend students to Nankai directly or via other
Chinese agencies.
(4) INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION
Students can directly submit application to the Office for
International Academic Exchanges.

How to apply
Students may request the GUIDE and APPLICATION FORM from Office of
International Students, Office for International Academic Exchanges,
Nankai University. It is also available on the Website of Nankai
University. All materials with application fee have to be sent to
international student admission office before deadline.

Entrance Exam for Undergraduate and
Graduate Studies
1. Applicants applying for BA Degree must take a Chinese
language examination which tests listening, reading and writing
capability. For those who have already taken HSK test and passed
level 6 or higher, this exam can be exempt. (If applying for The
College of Chinese Language and Culture, applicants who have passed
HSK level 3 can be exempt from the examination, and those with HSK
level 6 can directly enter into 3rd year undergraduate program.)
2. Applicants applying for BS Degree must take a Math test and a
Chinese language examination. Applicants with HSK level 6 or higher
can be exempt from Chinese language examination.
3. Applicants applying for graduate program must take a Chinese
language examination along with two specialized subject tests.
Applicants who have passed the HSK level 6 test can be exempt from
the Chinese language examination. Each subject of examination is
graded on a one hundred percentage scale. Full mark is 100 and 60 is
the passing score. Students who pass the examinations can be
accepted according to Matriculation Criteria of Nankai University
and Recruitment Plan.

Registration Duration
According to current China education system, one academic year
divided into two semesters. Fall Semester starts around early
September and ends in next January, while spring semester is from
early February and runs to July. Students must register within
duration specified in the admission letter.

Students who study Chinese language make the registration at room
201, the College of Chinese Language and Culture, others at the
Office for International Academic Exchanges.
