Programs
Overview
Since 1980, Nankai University has signed long-term cooperation and
exchange agreement with more than 20 sister universities or
institutes in American, Japan, Canada, Korea, Germany, Finland, and
Australia. Every year Nankai organize short-term Chinese language
training courses (4-8 weeks in summer or winter) for their students.
To fulfill request of both schools and students themselves, many
subjects are introduced to short term programs. Besides Chinese
language, Chinese society, politics, economy, calligraphy,
traditional Chinese painting, Peking opera, and folk music are also
on the teaching list. According to the agreements, the credit the
students get can be transferred back to their schools.
Due to recent economic growth, China's success in WTO bid and
increasing number of foreign investments, variety of related topics
like Chinese economy, international trade and international
commercial management have been introduced to these short term
programs. In addition, with the cooperation of Tianjin Economic and
Technological Development Zone, Nankai University also offers
short-term training programs for peoples from medium and small
enterprises of EU countries and Taiwan. The subjects offered include
Chinese economic reform and opening policy, investment policy,
economic and trade regulations, industrial and commercial
management, and so on. Those short-term programs have been very
successful in helping these enterprises starting up or operating
their business in China. Short-term programs are popular and
available all year around.
Programs
►Chinese Language Training Course: Enroll college students or senior
high school students. Individuals who are interested in studying
Chinese are also welcome to apply. Students will be divided into
different groups according to their Chinese ability. In addition to
their study, visiting tours and other activities are also available
during their stay at Nankai.
►Chinese Language and Economics Training Course: The topics include
Chinese economic reform, opening up policy, trade, industrial and
commercial management, traditional Chinese culture and more. The
subjects are taught in Chinese or English. Students will have the
opportunity to visit companies, villages, residential places, scenic
sports and historical sites during the period of study.
►Aida-Nankai University Exchange Program: Aichi University of Japan
has an exchange agreement with Nankai University for more than 20
years. In total, there have been over 1200 students of Aichi
University who participated in the Chinese language summer training
course held at Nankai University. Aichi University Exchange courses
concentrate mostly on academic subjects such as Chinese language,
Chinese politics, culture, history, society and economics. Nankai
and Aichi have established a multiple-subject section called the
"Modern Chinese Study Department". Nankai University is the
cooperation partner and abroad education base for this department.
Moreover, Aichi University selects 200 students every year to study
at Nankai University for one semester. This program can be a model
to set up similar program with oversea schools.
How to Apply
►Universities or other groups wiling to take short term programs at
Nankai University may contact with the Office of International
Students, and sign agreements, at least one month ahead of
departure. 10 students can form an independent group; participants
should be 18 years old or older. Individual applicant can directly
contact Office of International Students.
►Nankai University will issue the Admission Letters and Application
Forms according to the signed agreement. Students should go to local
Chinese embassy to apply for an F visa, and register on time.
Tuition and Expenses
Due to each group have different schedule, courses and travel
destinations, the total expense at Nankai can be different from the
following standards:
►Registration fee: RMB 400 per student
►Tuition: RMB 850 per week
►Accommodation: RMB 65 per day (double room)
The cost of travel varies based on different destination,
transportation, food, accommodations, group size and schedule. |
